Choosing Slat Sizes for Wood Blinds
In order for your wood blinds to look balanced and blended, you'll need to choose the appropriate slat width for your window. Before you settle on a certain slat size, however, you'll need to take into consideration the size and depth of your window as well as the size of your room.
In general, big windows need bigger slats. This is because fewer slats are required for a window if they are wide (2” or more) and these larger slats and wider spaces will compliment the size of your window. Keep in mind, though, that wider slats will stick out further from the window and you'll need to be aware of this if the window is near a high-traffic area.
In contrast, smaller slats can look busy and crowded on a large window and are best suited for smaller windows and smaller rooms. These narrower slats are also great for shallow windows or those located in high-traffic areas (ie narrow windows next to the front door).
